Hyatt is always breaking new grounds with their exclusive hotel experiences, but this time they went further. Instead of just innovating through their rooms and services, the brand released a co-branded credit card with Chase. This is one of the most awaited hotel focused rewards cards in the last few months.

Are you a Hyatt hotel loyalist who wants to make sure you get your money’s worth from any credit card? Maybe this is your chance to shine by using the World of Hyatt Business card. This is a great choice for any business owners that comes packed with a welcome bonus and great rewards for your spending.

The best part about this card is how accessible it is. While most hotel and airline credit cards focus on elite businesses, the World of Hyatt Business tries to give offers that even small businesses can use.

How does the World of Hyatt Business card work?

The World of Hyatt Business is a co-branded Chase credit card that focuses on small businesses. It is a rewards credit card, which means that you can look forward to some points and gifts along the way. However, it isn’t as luxurious as some of Chase’s other choices for hotel credit cards.

It combines some of the traditional benefits for business credit cards and rewards cards. This means you can get a few free nights through its welcome bonus as well as ongoing rewards while you make day to day purchases. As is the case with most of Chase’s co-branded products, you’ll earn the best rewards while staying at Hyatt’s hotels.

For travelers, this could mean some yearly savings on your hotel expenses. It also comes with Discoverist level at the hotel chain. While this isn’t as high as most hotel credit cards offer, it can allow you some more comfort during your stay.

Main benefits for the World of Hyatt Business

There’s still a lot you should learn about the World of Hyatt Business credit card. Its main benefits have to do with a great welcome bonus and ongoing rewards (although there are limits, as you’ll see in the next topic). They may not be exactly what you’d get from other hotel cards, but are still worth exploring.

The most interesting benefits are:

  • 60.000 bonus points after spending $5.000 in the first 3 months;
  • Up to 9 points per $1 spent on Hyatt’s hotels;
  • Hyatt’s Discoverist status for you and up to five employees;
  • Up to $100 statement credit from Hyatt;
  • Automatic access to the Hyatt Leverage program;
  • 10% back on redeemed points on selected categories;
  • Trip interruption and cancellation insurance;
  • Purchase protection for items bought with this credit card.

While all of these benefits are interesting, we recommend you keep reading to understand the credit card’s bonus and rewards in detail. After all, there is a high annual fee that comes with this card.

Welcome bonus

You’ll be able to get 60.000 points after spending at least $5.000 in the first three months with this credit card. It’s a valuable welcome offer that covers about 15 nights in most of Hyatt’s hotels, as long as you’re not looking for anything luxurious. This is enough to make up for the annual fee alone.

Rewards program

This is where things get tricky, since there is a very detailed rewards program for this credit card. You earn:

  • 4 points for spending at Hyatt’s hotels;
  • 2 points for everything bought in your top three spending categories for the billing period;
  • 2 points for membership at fitness clubs and gyms;
  • 1 point for every other purchase that doesn’t fall into the categories above.

There is enough variety in the categories included to make sure you earn as many points as possible through your everyday purchases. These include:

  • Dining;
  • Airline tickets;
  • Local transit and commuting services;
  • Gas stations;
  • Internet;
  • Cable and phone services;
  • Social media advertising;
  • Shipping.

This means that you can even earn points by hiring services for your small business.

Redeeming points

All of your points get deposited into your World of Hyatt account so that you can spend them later. Most of the redemption options include Hyatt’s services, such as bookings and making room upgrades. A standard room goes for about 3.500 points, which isn’t very hard to get considering the variety in your spending categories.

You can either pay your entire reservation using the points or pay for a standard suite and use your points for an upgrade. Unlike most other hotel cards, Hyatt has a fixed chart for reward. This means that even if a suite’s price changes, you’ll be able to get it through the reward system.

You’ll even have access to some of Hyatt’s resorts, if you’re looking for some quality time away.

Who is this credit card for?

This credit card is aimed at small business owners who are also Hyatt loyalists. After all, you can earn points easily through your stays at Hyatt hotels and business spending in many categories.

However, the rewards could be a bit disappointing if you don’t travel very often. Remember that there are fees related to this card that could make it an expensive option if you don’t really redeem your rewards at least once a year.

APRs and fees for the World of Hyatt Business Card

The greatest problem with any credit card tends to be its fees and interest rates. That certainly is the case with The World of Hyatt Business card, as you can see below:
